Podcast

In this week's session we tried out another online tool that was completely different than anything we have explored to this point. The main investigation this week was learning about podcasts, including how to create a podcast style upload on an online sharing site such as SoundCloud. I had never created a podcast or used SoundCloud prior to this session, but I was once again pleasantly surprised at the ease of use as well as the quality of the recording without any equipment other than the build in laptop microphone. My short podcast was on the topic of our PLE diagram, which is something we have discussed frequently throughout this semester. Here is my recording:



Using podcast and other applications that allow the user to share audio with the viewers is a great way of creating a stronger connection than just posting paragraphs of text. Audio recordings allows the user to communicate ideas in a more personal way that is a much better way of communicating emotion and is usually a quicker way of conveying ideas. Learning how to share podcasts online is a great digital skill to gain, as it is a widely used medium to share ideas and provoke discussion. By using a tool such as SoundCloud and sharing audio recordings, I am increasing my digital footprint and becoming a more well rounded digital citizen.
