In this week's session we
had the opportunity to use an online tool that I had never heard of and was
unlike anything else I had ever used. It is called Voicethread, an online
resource that allows people to share and collaborate with other people using
the classic text comments or using a unique method of commenting with voice
recordings. I think that this is a great tool that allows people to share their
ideas more in more detail in a timely fashion. Another benefit of the ability
to collaborate using voice is the ability to convey emotion, which may be difficult
to accomplish using text.
Voicethread would fit
into my PLE diagram under the "connect" and "convenience"
sections because this is a useful tool to easily communicate with peers in a
more efficient and complete way than sending text comments back and forth.
I don't know off the top
of my head if I would be able to use this tool as an academic tool as of now
only because I can't think of a situation where it would be efficient to do so.
I do think that this is a great tool for online classes though because it gives
a more connected feel than sending paragraphs of text back and forth to people
you have never met!
