Weekly Reflection #6

What did you learn/notice in your exploration of Evernote?
In this week’s session, our class investigated a unique and helpful tool for connecting multiple devices to allow easy access to your documents, images, URL’s and bookmarks anywhere you can connect to Evernote. You can even access any offline documents at any time on devices where they have been downloaded. Evernote allows, with a small fee, the ability to connect with other people and work together on documents, and basic sharing is available at no charge so you can share your work with others easily at no cost. I found that Evernote was very user friendly and I was pleased to see that I could connect with my peers and all of my devices.

How will this tool be useful in your educational activities?
This tool will improve my ability to connect with my peers and group members in projects by creating an effortless connection between people and across devices. The convenience of this app is far undervalued as a free download on multiple devices with only a small charge for additional sharing and uploading capacity. I look forward to improving my knowledge and efficiency with Evernote in future projects and organizing my documents in a more easily accessible and proficient program.

What do valid and reliable online bookmarks contribute to your work in building knowledge?

Valid and reliable online bookmarks are a key contributing factor to building and communicating knowledge. Bookmarking allows the user to easily track websites of interest that have information that they would like to revisit without having to find the website manually again. Bookmarking websites is great for compiling various websites that can be used for communicating knowledge for a school project or even personal reference.

How could you add this to your PLE? Will you?

Evernote would also fit nicely into my PLE diagram from a past blog between the “connect” and “convenience” sections. As I have explained earlier, this tool truly allows people to connect with one another, but also connectivity between multiple devices, which is where it falls in the gap between connectivity and convenience as in today’s digital age, connecting usually brings on some form of convenience because of the capability of these web tools.  Just as I have with the other tools we have discovered throughout the first half of “Learning in a Digital Context”, I will continue to use Evernote to see if it continues to allow me to be more organized and efficient with my tasks. If I find success with a product, I will add it to my PLE, which is why it is important to try different tools to find what works for you!

Are you able to connect one or more items from your Feedly Reader to your learning?

During this week’s session, I was looking back through my Feedly, specifically through PCMag because I was thinking that I might find an interesting document on sharing documents online. I was pleasantly surprised when I came upon an article on some tips for Evernote users! These suggestions for improving the user experience with Evernote are really helpful and everyone that is having difficulty navigating this tool should take a look at this fantastic resource.
